  • Louise O'Rourke Miscevich , 92, of Sleepy Eye, died peacefully in her sleep Mother's Day morning, Sunday, May 12, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center.
       A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 17, 10:30 a.m., at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel in Sleepy Eye. Friends may call on the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and one hour prior to the service at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel. Clergy will be Fr. Brian Oestreich and interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.

      Louise was born Nov. 29, 1911, on a farm near Minnesota Lake, the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Zimny) Stencel. She married Charles O'Rourke on Nov. 25, 1930, and they farmed in Faribault County for 14 years. The couple moved to Sleepy Eye and then Waseca before relocating to California. Charles preceded her in death in June of 1980. Louise married Ray Miscevich in California and following his death, moved back to Minnesota. She had been a resident of Divine Providence Community Home the last two years of her life. Louise was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and enjoyed flowers, especially roses, reading, making special quilts for family and friends and embroidery. She was also known as a great letter writer.
      Survivors include daughters Patricia (Stanley) Seifert of Sleepy Eye; Mary Kanelos of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; Carmel Bennett of North Mankato; Beatrice (Eddie) Nevis of Paradise, Calif.; and Joette Juarez of Salinas, Calif.; sons Dennis (Margo) O'Rourke of Mesa, Ariz.; and Dean (Charlene) O'Rourke of Vallejo, Calif.; 37 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Gib) Martin of Princeton Ill.; and Eileen (Orville) Botts of San Fernando, Calif.
      She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles O'Rourke; second husband, Ray Miscevich; a son, Charles O'Rourke, Jr.; four brothers; and six sisters.
      Casket bearers are Carey Seifert, Craig Seifert, William Freitag, Brent Thoreson, Jeffery Bennett and Bradley Bennett.
