- Edgar John Deney
Born 25 November 1841 in Ellisburg, Jefferson County New York to the parents of John Denny & Lucretta/Luzetta McNitt. Edgar married September 28 1879 in Clinton Falls, Minnesota to Jennie "Hattie" Ray (spelt name Janae Deney on Edgars Death certificate). Edgar died in Morristown, Minnesota on 21 February 1913 (have copy of death certificate)., buried in Morristown Riverside Cemetery. Edgar lived a somewhat colorful life, He made his money by renting property (occ listed as Real Estate Dealer on Death Certificate) and was also convicted of passing Counterfeit money and spent four years in Stillwater, Minnesota (of June 16 1880).

He married Jennie "Hattie" Ray, Daughter of Robert Ray (b. 7 July 1828 Ohio died 11 March 1907 Port Townsend, Washington) and Emily Simmons (b.26 November 1835 Pennsylvania died 14 January 1867 Monroe Co Wisconsin). They had nine children who were all born in Minnesota. I am descended from his 8th child Leeland Alfred Deney.
My grandfather Leeland Deney lived for a time in Morristown Minnesota where he married Dorothy Mae Downhour (Daughter of Samuel James Downhour and Stella Effa Dean) and they had two sons. Story went that he put Dorothy (pregnant with my father) on a Train with toddler Harold to Washington state and he then rode the rail in a box car and met her there at their destination. Leeland Deney served in both WW1 and WW2 ( I have a great deal of info of his term in the Navy SeaBee's - The 38th Naval Construction Battalion). Leeland lived in Oregon and then made Washington State his permanent home. Leeland and his brothers Roy Sylvestor Deney and Robert Edward Deney moved to Ruston Washington and then Leeland moved to Sheridan, Oregon then to Roseberg Oregon and then to Olympia, Tacoma and Puyallup, Washington. The other children of Edgar Deney remained in Minnesota.

(2) Gerald Raymond Deney b. 1924 in Ruston WA and still married to Patricia Joyce Langdon. Gerald served in WW2 in the Normandy Invasion. When he returned he went into Commercial Fishing (from Alaska to the Mexican Coast until 1953). They had a daughter, Janice Raye born 1950 (who had one son named Leeland Richard Deney Wiggins) and a son, Scott John Deney, born 1954 (has 1 daughter named Allyssa). Both are currently divorced and single.
Leeland married 2ndly Hazel Crawshaw, there was no issue. They resided in Olympia, Washington. Leeland ran a Apartment Building there for some years before relocating in Puyallup, Building a small duplex in which son Harold also added a Triplex apartment, sharing the same yard.
