Notes
- From Markuson Genealogy: "The Markusons: 1834 to 1964": "Knute
Markuson and Martha Reppen were married in Norway, just before sailing
for American in 1853, and they were on the ocean nine weeks. They
settled at McFarland near Madison Wisconsin, where they lived two
years. Then they moved to Goodhue County, Minnesota, a few miles north
of where Kenyon is now located. They then moved seven or eight miles
southwest of Kenyon where they lived until the fall of 1882 when they
filed on a homestead at Woodside Minnesota, (one mile south) where they
finally acquited three quarter sections of land which they sold in 1901,
and commenced building a house in Fertile. However, father passed away
before that was finished.
Mother finished the house and lived there until 1915, when she sold it
and went to Chicago to live with Matilda(Mrs. Rev. Ofstedal). She then
went to Minneapolis to live with Albert and Mary Marukuson a couple
years and later went to California to live with Anna(Mrs. J.A. Ofstedahl)
where she passed away in 1931.
Father and Mother are both interred at Maple Lake Cemetary south of
Maple Bay, Minnesota.
They had fifteen children, three of whom died in infancy, and they took
the sixteenth to raise. He was Oscar Medchill, fifteen months old at the
time."
Due to the note above, it can be assumed that there were three more
children -- all of whom died in infancy -- than are listed with the family
in this location. Neither the names, dates of birth, or any other
information of these three were listed in this 1964 genealogy.
